1.
To the weald I have returned To reclaim what seethes in my blood I call to you, graven ashen whore Sitting upon your stolen throne A cackle emits from the skies above Heralding of our confrontation We meet again within this frostbitten cabin Where prior arms had held such might Unyielding scaffolds to this abode As dying flames lick the hearth And then that wooden door flies open To entrance those frozen souls Shivering between these barren walls Collapsing the image of legitimacy Screaming as banshees from the cold Howling winds of judgment and injury Surrounded by the pale sky as eternal winds summon nothingness! Beleaguered by the coming storm of blight and sickened history! Mesmerized by the dismal squall as seething forces lay dominion! Lost within the blizzard of destiny to claim the lasting monarchy!
2.
When the ice began and their songs had ended When warmth could no longer ease their pain I beheld that ancient wisdom And drawn by their sorrow I came Into the frost I lured them Follow me to be saved When their desires became woeful When weakness became their cloth Into the frost I lured them Into the frost I lured them To a new frozen life enslaved A chilling mire of enchantment and wonder, my mask distilled down to a mere frosted vessel to which I dazzled each of them one by one as they came to me Once smoldering remnants of humanity but now tipped with the shards of winter’s tears - cancerous icicles I am the frosted wizard! I proclaimed upon promontory cold Bear my reflection through ice And kneel before my cape of wonder! Enslaved by the frost Forever chilled in ecstasy Cold, torn from humanity
3.
Quiet comfort I did seek Escaping from the storm A settlement nestled deep Within that hidden valley Forlorn faces peer among the candlelight Wailing at my frosted arrival Whirling tantrum of winter’s gaze Seeking out my flailing warmth No refuge am I rewarded From its ancient icy grasp Distant rumbling of moving earth rattling our frozen bones Maelstrom of murky waves crash down from glaciers cracked And when those icy waters roil forth sweeping them into cold misery Then they will know the plight of my ancestry Swirling, churning, they all are carried away Washing, roiling, plunged into the depths An entire village submerged in floe My bloodline hex has drowned them in my woe Whirling tantrum of winter’s vortex Dampening their flailing warmth No solace of death rewarded From my sanguine frosted curse

Moon Oath 04:36
Wind breaking, solemn and dire, I walked with you into that other realm Feverish they called to me, spirits adrift in old time passages Remember them, you had shouted to me, remember this moment! Among leaves we climbed ever driven by those beyond dark forces I can still recall now the visage that formed before us An ashen frown with dark eyes aglow by the moon’s embrace You were there with me I took the Moon Oath Among those old statues In the pine grove of our ancestors Where the dusk fell silent I took the Moon Oath Blood call to our past Solicited animus A baneful tapestry Scared yet heedless we wept upon the stones Winged creatures enshrouded calling aloud What havoc, you shouted, have we wreaked?! When tears and blood meet Earthen wonder? I the summoner, staring aghast Among the flames no shadow cast I broke the Moon Oath And you were there to witness Seamless in stride Plunging the blade of oppression
5.
Roaming across that frigid landscape My woolen cape flickers in the wind Feet slipping over ice trodden pathways Eyes blinded by the shimmering snow Muscles frozen, skin frostbitten I conjure up the strength to go on I shiver with the ghosts of tyrants old I freeze with their somber despair I glaciate with the hills and the sky I embrace winter to become you all Over frozen rivers I cross that arctic plain Pushing against the coming ancestral storm Gelid wonders delight and dazzle me To embrace the numbing atrophy Who comes to us, foolish wanderer? Who dares enter our brumal kingdom? Frozen whispers, tongues of frost Within the tornado of ice and snow Lashing torment, biting frenzy Stinging fingers of gods of yore Plunging down into the crevasse I escape their polar ferocity Deposited into those bromine waters Flailing among the algid relics To freeze at sea Weakness triumphant, body dormant I collapse on the tundra ice floe Bleak encampment, frozen misery Forever shivering with the ghosts of tyrants old
6.
Coiling within those azure depths A sign of my history, of stagnant might Hidden numbed resistance Frostbitten serpents, vipers of ice Crystalline bolus of swarming power Calcified relic, venom in my veins Beckoning beneath these foaming arctic waves Writhing Amassing Floating Thawing Ripples breaking that frozen surface Brined tension rising all around me I see them breaking from the deep Frigid scales whorl among the ice field I hear them hiss my name Cackling at my circumstance Frostbitten serpents, vipers of ice Crystalline bolus of swarming power Calcified relic, venom in my veins Beckoning beneath these foaming arctic waves I feel their bites across my wind burnt skin I bear their mark within my icy spirit I merge with their serpentine memory I empowered by ophidian sanguinity
7.
Snowblind and delirious from the arctic kiss I the frosted wizard arrive at the frigid monolith Glacial titan felled among the frozen stars Petrified weeping stone of icy blood The rigid corpse of a forgotten giant Final muffled northern breath from this ancient tyrant I wail for you, o great one! This pilgrimage I have made So many have fallen in my quest Drowned for your frigid rage Serpents cold, shivering gods Eternal winds of nothingness These all I have embraced To feel again your polar caress Glacial titan felled among the frozen stars Petrified weeping stone of icy blood Collapsing at your feet I unsheathe the blade of oppression For here I must end myself Beneath your barren, fossilized husk This my dirge for the last glacial titan Crystalline tears that bear our name This my dirge for the last glacial titan Freezing vapours lost in the blizzard of time This my dirge for the last glacial titan Shattered bones that merge in gelid ecstasy This my dirge for the last glacial titan Sullen dusk over ice trodden arteries

about

Hail to you champions!

Gloamus presents the debut album "Sullen Dusk Over Ice Trodden Arteries", a cold, bleak concept album exploring the inescapability of history, bloodlines, and the impending frigid march of death. May you follow our champion of ice as they recount their history, from the breaking of moon oaths, the summoning of ice and storms, and the final pilgrimage to the last ice titan! May winter rejoice in such frigid lodges as yourselves!

Do not forget to heed the warning of this tale, as foreshadowed in our EP "Prelude To The Coming Haze Of Winter's Glass" and the bonus track "Forever Those Hounds On Frozen Cliffs Lope"!
